Daily hair loss is natural. The 10% of our hair which is in a resting phase would fall out every 2 or 3 months with 90% of the hair in a growth phase. The matter gets noticed when hair loss is beyond the normal shedding limits. Plenty of reasons cause hair loss. Alopecia areata: Generally caused due to immunity disorder where the body’s own white blood cells attack the hair follicles. When the entire scalp hair has fallen it is called Alopecia Totalis. When the whole body loses hair, it is called Alopecia Universalis.

This can result in male pattern baldness which causes 25% of men getting bald by age 30. Though essentially genetic, the reason could also be attributed to testosterone the male hormone. Unhealthy hair is produced or hair production is stopped by Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) generated by the conversion of testosterone. Men not having any testosterone would not suffer from male pattern baldness.

Skin diseases - Skin diseases can affect the scalp and cause hair loss. Dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, scalp fungus such as ringworm and tinea captis are some of the ailments caused by skin diseases.

Sudden illness or fever: This is a temporary condition.

The other common factors which can also result in hair loss include childbirth, menopause, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and getting old. Though these are the primary reasons for hair loss, there could be several others also.

Hair loss can be treated when you can stop hair fall and promote re-growth. Here are some natural ways you could treat hair loss: Vitamins A, B, C and E are hair promoters. Their beneficial actions include:

It would help a lot if you regularly massage your scalp using herbal oils like olive oil, jojoba oil, amla oil. In conditions of alopecia areata, several oils are proven to be beneficial.

Your hair and scalp stand to get damaged if you use harsh chemical processes like coloring as well as straightening. Daily hair wash with hot water depletes hair of natural oil and turn break-prone.

Using herbal care: One of the richest sources of natural vitamin C is amla powder, known for its anti-oxidant properties. If you want a hair cleanser which cleanses without depriving your hair of its natural oils, go for Shikakai, also known as the Fruit for hair. Use henna then which plays its role as a natural conditioner.

Did you know that nicotine from smoking narrows the blood vessels which supply blood to the scalp? If you want to prevent damage to the scalp from UV rays, avoid exposure to the sun.

Anemia is one of the most frequent causes of hair loss. Eat plenty of iron-rich foods, like liver (Avoid if you are pregnant) and other organ meat
